Mossel Bay Kwêla Town of the Year 2017

TOGETHER we all voted … TOGETHER we all won!

Mossel Bay carries the crown and proud title of 2017 Kwêla Town of the Year. A great many people from all over South Africa and Namibia voted for their favourite finalist in kykNet’s competition that annually showcases SA’s most popular and charming towns. Viewers, visitors, residents, fans and several enthusiastic local role-players all helped Mossel Bay come out on top. Our heartfelt thanks go to each and everyone.

We all waited on the results anxiously while excitement mounted. Local radio station SFM even hosted an announcement party at the ATKV Walvissaal in Hartenbos. Residents from Mossel Bay and the surrounding area gathered here to watch the broadcast of the Kwêla Town of the Year Announcement Show on 7 June 2017. A splendid amount of sponsors pulled together and in spite of the brewing storm people attended this spectacular function for the opportunity to share in each other’s joy. Mossel Bay Municipality’s Director of Corporate Services, Edward Jantjies, and Mossel Bay Tourism’s Chief Operating Officer, Marcia Holm, were handed the grand prize in studio by Kwêla presenters Hannes van Wyk and Therese Benade. Walking away with marketing to the value of R1 million in the form of a promotional advertisement with airtime on kykNet is a huge honour and privilege. We thank Kwêla, kykNet and all their sponsors. In addition to the above-mentioned marketing Mossel Bay has also won a Kwêla Makietie as part of the prize! This awesome event will be in the form of a Town Festival to celebrate our victory. It will be held in conjunction with the Mossel Bay Sports Festival (23 September to 7 October 2017). The organising committee is very enthusiastic about the Kwêla Makietie that will take place on Saturday 7 October 2017. So save the date to see what more Mossel Bay has in store …
