Prince Albert Wine Tasting

PRINCE ALBERT a peaceful village at the foot of the famous Swartberg Pass, an oasis in the dry Karoo, offers traditional Karoo hospitality. Streets are lined with water furrows along blooming gardens, and flourishing orchards. The town is an ideal spot for star-gazing and well-known for its wines.

Bergwater Wines, just 22km into the splendid Prince Albert Valley, is open for tastings and sales

Do find time to fit them in to your list of activities – as they have a vast and interesting selection of (very reasonably priced) wines to taste and ponder!

Why not bring your own picnic basket and find your perfect happy place. They provide scenic grounds, wine & birdsong.

They also sell local products such as dried figs (& fresh, during season), jams & preserves, crafts, cheeses and our own delectable olives/olive oil.

SoetKaroo Wine Estate

The Perolds’ home is a SAWIS registered wine estate where they grow, make and bottle their own dessert and port style fortified wines – right in the middle of Prince Albert

Herman and Susan enjoy showing visitors their vineyard and little cellar and, of course, offering a tasting of SoetKaroo wine.

Reiersvlei

Situated in the picturesque Prince Albert Valley in the Great Karoo, this Wine Farm is located en route between the majestic Meiringspoort and famous Swartberg pass.

Being 24kms from the quaint little town of Prince Albert, Reiersvlei Wine Cellar is one of only a handful of Great Karoo Wine Estates which differs from the Little Karoo. With its unique combination of summer afternoon winds and valley soils having been laid from thousands of years of erosion off the Swartberg Mountains, the valley is blessed with pure water from the snow and rains these alluring mountains generate.

With all its contrasts this Wine Farm ranks as one of the highest in the country, standing at an average of 860+ metres above sea level. The topography of the valley floor combined with the lower mountain slopes affords a perfect location for growing quality grapes. The rich valley flora and fauna compliment Reiersvlei Wine Cellar which boasts an interesting resident Heron population after which Reiersvlei was named.
